Second String Information
The aim of the Second String tool is to help identify good second guesses given a starter word and a resulting set of tiles.
You enter a starter word and get a ranking for the remaining potential second guess words for each group.
There are five scoring methods and you can rank using any combination of these.
For words to rank, you can select any of the the dictionaries of solutions or WordleBot words.
You can select whether to rank against the dictionary of solutions or WordleBot words.
The first step will show you all the groups with their tile patterns starting with the largest.
The Words column indictes the number of words remaining from the selected dictionary of words to rank.
The Members column indictes the number of solutions in the group.
You can then choose to view the top ranked words from each group by clicking the appropriate View button.
The number of ranked words shown is a quarter of the total (limited to 10 for the largest groups).
For groups with less than 4 words, no ranking is available.
Clicking on any highlighed word will take you to the score card on which that ranking was based.
Avoiding words that are cliffs or pillars of doom is advisable if you want to increase your chances of avoiding failure. When all the tiles are green, the word matches the cliff or pillar exactly. Otherwise, the pattern is considered a close match and the tile colours indicate how close the match is.
